Vegetable Biryani

INGREDIENTS:

FOR MASALA PASTE:
Coriander leaves: a bunch
Mint leaves: few
Green chillies: 10
Onion: 1
Coconut: 1/4cup
Cinnamon, cloves and cardamom
Make a fine paste.

Cauliflower
Carrots
Capsicum
Beans
Basmati rice: 4 cups

Now take a pressure pan and sauté onions and chillies along with bay leaves.
Then add the masala paste and sauté for 5 min and add all vegetables and fry for few min then add rice and mix well. Add salt and 4 and ½ cups of water and put the lid, leave in medium heat for 20 min or until the rice is cooked.
Superb veg biryani is ready!!!!!

KHALIA

Ingredients:

Bottlegourd: 1 cup
Brinjal : ½ cup
Tomatoes: ½ cup
Onions: 1
Chillies: 4
Add chilli powder and turmeric and cook all the above until they are just done.
Take ½ aside and mash the remaining.

Boil chana dal( 1 cup) and keep it aside.

Take a pan and fry 1 onion and 2 chilies and curry leaves, just sauté them and then add ½ tsp ginger garlic paste and now add all the vegetable and the mashed part as well. Add tamarind juice( soak a small ball sized in warm water and take the juice out) and let it boil as soon as it starts boiling, add the dal and let it boil for 5 min and khalia is ready!!


It tastes superb with any biryani or just white rice!!!
This is my sister’s recipe and i think i have asked her over 100 times( ooooouch!!!!! ) to get it right, but atlast i posted this so that i don’t get back to her to know it again and again.
I actually forgot to mention that mine and her’s culinary skills are from our dad u know!!
I know my mom will be fuming by now that i haven’t mentioned her but believe me she is also a good veg cook!!!he he!!!
