After waking so late today being a weekend, i was just gazing outside thru my bedroom window to see gloomy and grey sky which is quite a sight to start a day.
My poor Rocky was in the kitchen with his porridge satchet trying to have the same old breakfast everyday!! So i ran into the kitchen asked him to give me 1/2 hr so that i can make some indian breakfast which they both like to have it on weekend when i have time!!Now looked in my pantry to see what i can cook, there were things lying for so long and i can see each and evry tin, pkt screaming at me Pick me Pick me!! but after a careful search, found vermicilli
so I quickly started preparing this dish which took less then 15min and i can see 2 hungry people taking a break from playing Playstation “Army Men” busy tucking in.
It seems my hubby promised to make it up to him this weekend by playing a game on his playstation. So there you go:
My recipe:vermicilli: 1/2 pkt
onion:1
chillies: 3
curry leaves: 2 sprigs
chana dal, urid dal, mustard seeds: 1 tsp each.
cashewnuts: 8

Now take 2 tsp of oil, add tadka and when mustard seeds start spluttering add curryleaves, onion and chillies.Fry for couple of min and then add 2 glasses of water and salt. When the water start boiling add vermicilli to it and simmer it for 5 to 10 min until its cooked.Serve hot!!
We love this too, call it Shavige uppittu.Using vermicelli pasta is great idea.Little turmeric will give it color and flavor.Have a great weekend Padmaja.
Hmm… Padmaja, looks so simple and yummy, may be I’ll give it a try this weekend. I do have all the ingredients in my pantry anyway.
good suggestion asha!! next time will add turmeric!!!
and sig definitely try it, one of the easiest recipe to make but its tastes amazing!!
I guess its the cashewnuts in the recipe which give it that extra oomph!! Love vermicilli.
