Vermicilli & Chilli

With this gloomy weather which is sweeping UK and thunderstorms ahead, there is nothing I could do rather then just gazing at the sky under a duvet with cup of hot tea.

I made this wonderful simple upma with vermicilli which is Noel’s favourite for breakfast today.A quicky breakfast which took less then 15min .

How to make:

Vermicilli: 1/2 pkt

All Spice Powder: 1tbsp
Red onion:1
Green chillies: 3
Curry leaves: 2 sprigs
Chana dal, Urid dal, Mustard seeds: 1 tsp each.
Cashewnuts: 8

Now take 2 tsp of oil in a saucepan and add chana dal, urid dal and mustard seeds and when mustard seeds start spluttering add curryleaves, onion and chillies.Fry for couple of minutes and then add all spice powder and 2 glasses of water and salt. When the water start boiling add vermicilli to it and simmer it for 5 to 10 min until its cooked.Serve hot!!

Its such an easy and simple recipe that doesn’t take anytime and yet it tastes so good. This is my contribution to Wonderful Trupti’s WBB#12, Spice It Up

Hi Padmaja,Nice picture! You look great.and the upma does too.My mother’s fav item since it took so less time to prepare while there were three of us waiting to eat and a school to attend for all of us(Mom is working in a school).but
I sure do miss the sunshine. It has been raining all day today here in London:(
