Awesome Chak de India Premier

Last week we were at Somerset House, London for Chak de India premier, Shahrukh Khan was there to attend the premier.I along with bunch of friends were there waiting at the other end of the courtyard as we were tipped off that Shahrukh will at the other end to meet the media and so there we were waiting patiently for 1/2 hr along with other people .It wasn’t that crowded as I guess everyone were rushing to the courtyard to get the best place for a picnic n watch the movie. A little about why chairs are not allowed is Every summer, the magnificient courtyard at Somerset house is transformed into a full scale open air cinema with state of the art gaint screen, 35mm projection and surround sound and allow only 2000 people. This is the first time that they are hosting a Indian Movie premier.
The whole air of filled with shahrukh frenzy and everyone were eagerly waiting and there he was so amazing as ever, slowly got down the car, said hello to everyone and started signing few autographs.

It was absolutely amazing to see him so welcoming, humble and an absolute superstar without the attitude. There was something around him that makes people so crazy not that he is a great bollywood star but the persona is an amazing thing that everyone cannot have .

he did made our day with a wonderful smile and went off to give few interviews, we were still excited and for a minute forgot about why we were there in the first place

Then we slowly went to the courtyard spread our rugs and were all ready for the movie with all the excitement. There were around 2000 lucky people who got the tickets were slowly coming and settling down with wonderful picnics, it was an amazing sight

At around 9:00, Shahrukh introduced the movie to us and said that he was overwhelmed to see so much support from the audience and asked whether he will get the same positive response after the movie.
At 9:15, the movie started and Oh Boy I had never seen a terrific actor as him.
What a great concept and the whole team deserved a standing ovation.

Shahrukh as kabir khan was terrific and the girls hockey team were so real. Not even once we felt as if we were watching a movie, it was like a real match, real emotions, real life events happening around you!!
After a very very long time, I have seen an awesome movie like this and what an amazing team.

I feel each and everyone who’s involved in this deserve a special mention!
All in all, an amazing day and these memories will stay with me for a very longtime

2 more days for us to fly to INDIA, can’t wait to see everyone at home.I will try to blog from India as well but guys if i can’t, then i wish you have a great time, cook some amazing dishes and keep sending those amazing n encouraging mails.
Will be back with a BANG!!!!!!!!!! till then Happy foodblogging!!

    Hey Padma!
glad to hear that you enjoyed your time in my hometown London.

I always have an awesome time when I travel to mumbai which is like every othr day.

The reason why I’m commenting is because I agree with all your points. I am a SRK fan & was fortunate enough to get to know him personally, now I work with him & yes I am still a fan especially after Chak De! India.

I was born & brought up in London Uk by my bengali muslim family whom originate from Bangladeh & India (practically one country which was severed by the country I call home today!)

Although my family have always watched hindi films I was the first member who spoke the language fluently compared to bengali & decided to pursue a career.

Thanks to blessings from Allah & the support from my family & people like Shah Rukh, KaranJohar & Yash Chopra my dreams are turning to reality.

I have alot of respect for Shah Rukh as he is a true symbol of human spirit & in the film he personified that with his characterisation of Kabhir Khan.

The premiere was an experience to remember for all whom attended & those whom organised it.

I really pray that CDI does win accolades as it made me feel proud of being Indian, Asian & last but certainly not the least A Woman!

Thanks for blogging about the experience & wish you a safe journey home.

    lol Tara:)

    Hi,

I am glad you had a good time.

I was never an SRK fan and I feel this movie must have been good despite him, not because of him. But that’s my opinion. I have a niece in London who is probably the world’s biggest SRK fan and we argue a LOT :-)

  20. Meeta, 14. August 2007, 6:08

I Love Shah Rukh and the coolest thing is that here in Germany all the Germans are crazy about him too. Did you know SRK can speak perfect German? They show his movies here dubbed in German LOL! At least the songs are in the original tone!!

Lovely experience Padmaja - thanks so much for sharing!

As always he looks rocking. Blv me, Shahruk was in the same school as my brother, n he was an outstanding student there. There were a few pics of him in the school mag, n he looked such a “lallu” then, that its unbelievable to see him grow into such a wow looking man!!! Anyway, i loved the movi totally
