Going Wild with Salmon
Its been few days, I have posted something, its not that I haven’t been cooking but its just that we had guests over the weekend we were going around to cambridge and other places nearby. We love cambridge, a vibrant city and enjoy walking the university colleges, punting, open top bus rides, walking tours and many more.
Whenever we have friends coming over to visit us, one place we always take them to is Cambridge an amazing fusion of the ancient history and modern day living, so much happening there and a city that has shaped history. Who can forget the history, people and discoveries that happened here.
(The American cemetery at Cambridge where Approx 4000 people who died in both the world wars were laid to rest)
Great people like Sir Isaac Newton, Ramanujan both from Trinity college , the Old Cavendish laboratory which was famous for its discoveries as DNA, Neutron and Electron, Queens college famous for it 12th century mathematical bridge, Kings College and the world famous College Chapel, Darwin college named after him who sat at the very banks of the river that flows through the city and wrote the “Origin of the Species”.We have been going to this place every month taking our friends or family whoever visits us and everytime its an amazing experience. We find something fascinating about this city which pulls us there every now and then.
The above picture is my favourite of all the shots I have taken. We visited this cemetery for the first time, a peaceful and serene place to walk through the history of Great Britain. Noel was totally shocked to learn about the world wars and how many people died fighting for their countries. I think he is at a right age where he is trying to understand whats around him, asking questions and showing a keen interest in the history.
Before I get carried away with my thoughts, I will jump to the dish I made over the weekend. When we went to supermarket for our weekly groceries, These amazing Wild Atlantic salmon fillets caught my eye at the fish counter, the name intrigued me and was ready to give it a try to see in what way it is different to the farm reared salmon.
We were bowled over with the sublime texture it had, loved the taste and amazingly no fishy pungent smell. I served with green salad and roasted potatoes and it was thoroughly enjoyed by our friends and family.A simple recipe to make, in half hour when time is tight to dish up something elaborate.
Ingredients:
Wild Atlantic salmon fillets: 4
Ginger garlic paste: 2 tbsp
Oil: 1 tbsp
Lemon: 1
Chilli powder: 2 tsp
Turmeric : 1 tsp
Coriander leaves: small bunch
Salt to taste
Marinade the fillets with above mentioned ingredients and leave it the fridge for 1/2 hr and then bake them in oven 250degrees centrigrade for 10 minutes on either side and serve immediately with fresh green salad and roast potatoes.
Stumble it!
